Events[]

At Whateley Academy[]

Wyatt gets a call from Maria. They go back and forth for a while, and then Wyatt decides to head for New York himself to see what's going on and possibly mend fences. (It's spring break.)[1]

Carlos Jefferson and Martin Barrimore take the plane from LaGuardia to Berlin, and rental car from there to Whateley. Martin is excited to get into the field, and complements Amelia Hartford on her network protection code. They talk to Headmistress Carson, Mrs. Potter and Security Chief Delarose. The answer is the same - not only are their precogs unable to see more than a year into the future, but the situation has worsened in the last few days.[2]. Mrs Potter tells them a few additional things, and then tells the Headmistress a few more things after the MCO agents leave.[3]

He redirects a lost little redheaded girl in the airport, and fails to notice that her mother is Theresa Preston.[3]

In New York[]

Imp spends a pleasant day at home with Alicia.[4]

Eagle, Idaho[]

At the home of Sylvia Burrows, she and her dog familiar Roger have left on business, leaving Raptor by herself. Warned to stay on the property, she obeys the warnings, and finds a rasp to sharpen her talons, along with pracicing combat on hay bales.[5]

When Sylvia returns, she and Raptor talk about Raptor's maternal grandparents, and how Raptor's father and said grandparents had a mutual enmity. That enmity was reflected in the grandparents' wills, which specified that Marjorie Downs, their younger daughter, would only get her inheritance if she divorced, and if she didn't, it would pass to her daughter when she is 21.[5]

Western Montana[]

Marjorie is suffering more cybernetic augmentation pains, literally and figuratively. Part of that pain is because she only resembles a swimsuit model at a distance. A closer observer like herself would easily notice that "inhuman cyborg" is a more accurate description, what with circuitry on her limbs, and movements that make mechanical sounds, among other issues.[5]

It turns out that her husband had talked her into the cybernetic augmentation procedure along with himself, promising they would be "better than they had ever been". She went along with it mainly since her resistance was apparently literally beaten out of her in the past.[5]
