Ebidium is a black metal that is extremely dense and worth (by weight) slightly more than gold (in 2007). It is the subject of a robbery from Sartek by Mauler, Imp, Highwayman, Pinball, Hexfire, and Monkeywrench.[1]
Ebidium is not used for jewellery or armor due to its weight. Instead, it is used for containers, more precisely, safes. One of its properties is that it can insulate against certain types of energies and warper effects. Hypothetically, a safe lined with this metal, would be protected from theft by Tinsnip or Phase's extra-dimensional warping.
Its main property, according to the White Lady, is that "ebidium is completely immune to all magic." That is contrast with iron, which is said to also be magically immune. However, again according to the White Lady, "Iron disrupts many types of magic, but ebidium acts as an insulator against nearly every type of known magic. If a safe was to be made with this metal, magic could not force the safe open nor even touch that which is held within.”[2]
